Guided tours for schools and Kindergartens

We welcome schools and kindergartens to a guided tour of Bygdø Kongsgård.

On the tour, you will learn about Norwegian farm animals and where our food comes from. You can also take a guided tour of the Nursery.

We offer tours every week throughout the year and especially welcome after-school programs during the winter and autumn holidays. We tailor the tour to different age levels, and provide a warm lunchroom.

Please let us know in advance if your group requires any special accommodations. The more we know beforehand, the better the visit will be for the students. Also, inform us of any allergies.

Guided tours for adults

Bring colleagues, the senior group or a group of friends on a tour of Bygdø Royal Manor. You can also get a tour of the Nursery.

At Bygdø Royal Manor, we have been producing food for over a thousand years — from the time Catholic monks used it as a food supply for their monastery on Hovedøya, to today’s organic operations managed by the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History.

Bygdø Royal Farm currently has 17 employees, many of whom live on the premises, creating a unique and engaging environment to experience. The farm produces 5 tons of meat and 400,000 liters of milk annually.

During the tour, you will hear stories about our historic buildings and get a closer look at farm life. From the gallery in the barn, you can see 50 cows using the milking robot, a manure-cleaning robot keeping the area tidy, and roughly 50 kg of roughage per cow per day being delivered via a feeding conveyor. We also have pigs, rabbits, sheep, chickens, and horses.

Welcome to the tour!
